CONSORTIUM PRIMARY INITIATIVE

Creating a Master Plan

We are looking to create a future vision for Crooked Island that will tell the story of a thriving island life aimed at cultivating fresh economic opportunities, boosting tourism, fostering innovation, attracting newcomers and the return of Crooked Islanders due to internal or external migration, building a full life for residents, ensuring proper infrastructures are in place, and ultimately establishing Crooked Island as an innovative and sustainable stronghold in The Bahamas all while nurturing the island’s vibrant and unique way of life.

To most effectively develop this master plan for the future of Crooked Island, it is important to have a strong collaborative relationship with stakeholders, to enable stakeholders to share the potential the island holds.

Digging Flood Wells at Majors Cay

Resilient to natural disasters, Crooked Island has some lessons learned from the hurricanes that affected the island through the years, and more recently Hurricane Joaquin in October 2015 that unleashed massive flooding and left widespread structural damage. The island has also seen its share of heavy rainfalls through the years which caused heavy flooding that persisted for weeks rendering roads impassable.

The Consortium is excited about its first project, the unclogging and drilling of deep drain wells at Major’s Cay and Grand Mary to mitigate the flooding problems in these areas.

The assistance of All Stakeholders is needed to undertake this critical Project.

Redesign of Colonel Hill Park

Again the Consortium is partnering with local government with a proposal for redesign of the Central Park.
